I received my tractor back after 2 weeks of testing waiting for parts and a few hours of work. It looks to be $750 to $900 on top of the $230 already paid. This and it is only 2 years+ old and only has 200 hours on it (a virtual baby still). We are talking about 8 percent of the cost of a new tractor!

In the meantime, the grass and weeds have gotten up as high as 6 feet or more again. I will never get mulch down at this rate.

I got a “Dear John” letter from the company (a well known tractor company with a deer on the logo) says that the problem is not covered by the warranty.

I will perservere as I am not a happy camper. The part is supposed to be very heavy duty as it holds up the mower (which dropped to the ground with no advance warning) as I drove it along. I wonder if this is a NTSB complaint? The company says the repair dealer has to tell them the part has a mfg defect before they will inspect it. These are not the actions I heard the company is known for. In my opinion, the local repair guy cannot tell if there is a possible manufactoring defect or not, that is up to the mfg guys!
