When I was in about 8th grade, one of my teachers was a farmer. His name escapes me at the moment, but if I was to spend a while thinking, I could come up with the name. In fact, I think it was Mr. Morris.

I’m not sure if he had told us in advance or just brought it in, but he had jars of molassas, sorghum. However, according to wikipedia, it is not a true molassas. As I remember, it was a dark brown to black in color and very thick. Thinking back, it flowed as slowly as cool lava :-)

The taste was rich and very sweet, with granules of crunchy undisolved sugar crystals. We would eat it right out of the jar with a spook. Imagine spoonfuls of pure sugar!

Ahh youth!
