We have an active volcano and we call it the worlds only drive-up volcano where you can actually drive very close to flowing lava.

We also have the U.S’s largest housing development (in size). It was built many years ago but because of a number of reasons (limited water and electric and the possibilty of being covered by lava), it never really caught on. We locals call it HOVE, however the official name is Hawaiian Ocean View Estates. Go to Google Earth and type in the location “Hawaiian Ocean View Estates”. When it zooms in, start to zoom out. Also note the lava flows (dark black on the map).

It is something like 10,000 acres and perhaps 2300 people. There is a Wikipedia page for them.

Anyway, today I went there and headed makai (towards the water). I was headed out to look at a female yellow Labrador to use for breeding. My dog Koa did not have hips good enough, so he will be retired (before he started).

This female is very cute and will be available as soon as she reaches her 8 week birthday near the end of June. She comes from good parentage and will be a welcome addition to the Kona Labradors Kennels.

If you would like to see her, here is a photo. (Let the oohing and ahhing begin)!

The puppy does not yet have a name, so I’ll be working on that between now and the end of the month. I may use a Hawaiian name, so standy by for the news!
