Not So Quick On Many Fronts

The coffee had been roasted yesterday (perhaps I was the last order because it is smaller than many of the commercial account. In any event, I had my coffee bags, labels, shipping documents and bag sealer with me, just in case. I had promised to ship Wednesday, but next time I’ll shut up :-)

I stopped by and removed 2 worn out tires from a friends ATV. I was able to do that just before the rain started. While I packed coffee, my friend headed to town to get the new tires mounted. I packed the coffee and headed to the Post Office. I like “Click and Ship” because I already have printed the postage and the items just slide right into the drop box (or get left on the counter) and I am out of the post office in seconds, no matter how long the lines! YOU can use “click and ship” and the flat rate boxes are great for Christmas gifts. Also, we have flat rate envelopes that we put a couple of pounds of coffee in, but some Post Offices on the mainland would prefer we use the bubble envelopes instead. I am converting over.

I stopped by Walmart and grabbed some more plastic storage tubs for the office. Then I had just 45 minutes to grab something to eat. It was 2pm so I thought Jack in the Box would be quick. WRONG! Although they were not very busy with customers, there was a lot of flurry behind the counter. A family of 6 was ahead of me and their order was somewhat complicated. I don’t think they had ever been to Jacks. Then the woman just ahead of me decided to ask the contents of a couple of sandwiches. The person taking the order did not speak English well, although I could understand her. I have a better tolerance for trying to understand languages after moving out here.

My order was taken with about 20 minutes to make it to Kaiser to see the Orthopedist. One reason for choosing this particular restaurant is that is a 3 minute drive to Kaisers Clinic office and is usually fast. I had a teriyaki burger and drink from the value menu and tried not to load up too much on caffeine. Sometimes Kaiser wants to take my BP and heart rate. Last time they looked at my heart rate the tech had to fudge the number. It appears the computer would not accept a low number. I think it was in the 40’s at the time.

The Orthopedist looked at my xray and did a couple of tests. He said he can give me a set of shots (cortisone and lidocaine) or can send me to Oahu for an MRI and possible operation. because of the logistics, I opted for the shot and will see what happens. Otherwise it is off to Oahu.

I headed back and started to put the ATV tires on the ATV and was asked to fix a closet door and look at some fluorescent lights. I got the times mounted and headed home.

I am still recovering my computer from a week or two ago and don’t have the best comments about Carbonite. A process that should have been quick has been a long arduous task. I was able to find a workaround and my files are now restoring, but I am also not impressed. I have restored 54% of the files and the estimate is another 15 hours!

So this week it seems the faster I thought things would go, the slower they actually went.
