Solar Status 10-17-24
I have the batteries and controller on site. I also still have the 20 old unused solar panels here. I just ordered a set of battery cables to handle the battery capacity I have. I am still awaiting the electrical transfer box I ordered through Home Depot. It was supposed to be here almost 2 weeks ago and will be used to switch on demand any load circuit between my utility and the solar setup.
I bought a cheap piece of playwood that I will be mounting to the wall under the house and it will hold the controller and the transfer switch. I may also put a wire cable box there, I just have not decided yet.
I will be mounting all the new equipment on an ‘inside’ wall rather than outside next tothe circuit breaker box. That box is on the porch but I can access it from the other side. I wanted to bring some of the circuit wires out the sides of the box, but it looks as though they will all have to come out the bottom of the box as there are 2×4’s on either side of the breaker box.
The batteries and controller came delivered on a small wooden pallet and I think I will use that as the base below the batteries to keep them raised off the ground which is dirt/rocks (lava).
Photos will be in this and future posting soon.
I plan upon getting the controller, transfer box and circuits all hooked up and tested before I actually hook up the solar panels. That is because I have to build some type of leanto to hold the panels in a temporary location until I can decide if I need other panels.
