Mom is one of those was the first to pay into Social Security and because of that, has reduced benefits compared to everyone else who paid later. When I used to call her, she would want to get off the phone because she said “I don’t want to run up your phone bill”. She was used to long distance costing tons of money. When she and dad traveled to Europe, the plane had to stop in Gander to refuel on its way back to America.

Mom is 91.

She broke her hip a couple years ago and they did a hip replacement. The doctors decided she was in very good health and she actually was up and walking a day or two later.

She gets a little forgetful but don’t we all?

So as we talked, she said that our family lives to a very ripe old age. I had to remind here that the women live long, the men don’t fare so well.

Her Mother lived to be about 100 or was it just over 100? Well, you get the idea.

I hope I do as well.
