I bought a case of Pepsi Throwback today (Pepsi used real sugar). It is OK, but not “Kosher Coke” or “Jolt – the original”).

Instead of high fructose corn syrup, they use real sugar. The television show I saw says that HFCS is cheaper than sugar and that is why we use it. Some people don’t digest HFCS but oh well.

The interesting thing I note is that Pepsi Throwback with real sugar has 150 calories and a Safeway cola using HFCS has 160 calories and Coke has 140 calories! So the amounts are about the same, reguardless of what they are using. Granted that they may need to add more of the product to make it taste as sweet, but all in all, about 150 calories is what you will consume.

Isn’t that sweet to know?
