For the third time, British Airways is offering a very good deal, 100,000 frequent flier miles when you get a Chase Visa credit card. A few of us did this last time and are quite happy. While British Air may not fly where you want to go, their partners are Qantas, Japan Airlines, American Air and so on! I got my passport and plan upon going to perhaps Australia, New Zealand or Fiji.

The deal is that that sign up for the credit card, pay the $95 annual fee (up from $75 last time), upon first use of the card you get 50,000 miles and when you spend $2500 in the first 3 months you get the second 50,000 miles. The consensus is that you should do this in the first 70 days after approval, not after receipt of the card. You don’t want to take a chance a particular charge comes in late.

The details from the British Air webpage:

For a limited time, new cardmembers receive 100,000 bonus BA Miles—enough for two round-trip transatlantic flights.

Apply by May 6, 2011 and you’ll also receive our most generous enrollment offer of the year—up to 100,000 bonus BA Miles. You’ll earn 50,000 bonus BA Miles after your first purchase2 on the card and an additional 50,000 bonus BA Miles after spending $2,500 on your card within the first three months of activation.3

More exclusive benefits include:

  • BA Miles for every dollar spent—Earn 2.5 BA Miles for every $1 spent on British Airways purchases. Earn 1.25 BA Miles for every $1 spent on everyday purchases.4
  • BA Miles Travel Together Ticket—With the BA Miles Travel Together Ticket, you can bring a companion on your next reward flight without using any additional BA Miles. Every year you spend $30,000 on your card, you’ll earn a Travel Together Ticket good for two years. For more details, visit ba.com/traveltogetherticket.5
