A Tale of Two Labs

First, Sandra and I went to the Kailua-Kona airport this morning to ship “Sadie” to her new home on Oahu. It is always a bittersweet event for me because I delivered this puppy, helped feed it, cleaned up after it and then have to let it go. I know how parents feel when they send their kids off to college or to get married.

Normally we get a call a few hours after leaving the airport from the new owners telling us hos happy they are with their new puppy. Today we received a photo (probably taken at the cargo area in Oahu) with the new puppy being held by his new owner, a fully beaming 11 year old boy. That picture was worth a thousand words. I would post the photo however it was not sent directly to me, but trust me, I don’t think the guy could be smiling any more than he is.

The other event I can show you. As you know, since moving to Hawaii many years ago, I have helped deliver a number of puppy litters. One litter contained a black lab boy who has a bit of face time now. If you browse over to the Eddie Bauer website http://eddiebauer.com you will see that dog on the homepage. He is also featured in their summer catalog!

So even though I tell people that I don’;t like the delivery part, it is a necessary part of my future bragging rights :-)
