Pearlridge Shopping Center on Oahu in Hawaii will be the first in the country (the U.S. country that is) to offer complimentary charging stations for electric cars.

There were 495 registered electric vehicle owners as of late January.

Over here on the Big Island, we have a long ways to go towards electric vehicles. A drive around the island is perhaps 6 hours. Many parts of the drive are in rural areas with no businesses to sponsor or support electric recharging stations.
