I’ve Been Tired (In more ways than one)

The daily rains subsided and I went out to more the grass with the tractor. Within 5 minutes I had yet another flat. The front tires are small so I can take them off easily by loosening the lug nuts and then using the front end loader to lift the front of the tractor up. This makes it easy to use the loader as a jack.

The last fix for this tire was to patch the inside and add an inner tube. However the inner tube appears to have moved a bit, allowing the valve stem to get cut and leak the air. I can’t fix this myself and is the 3rd repair for this tire already. The tire is in good shape otherwise.

One fix is to fill the tire with foam that makes it a solid tire however I have read that this is not a great fix as the tire becomes very heavy, the ride becomes rough and flexing the tire can hurt the stability after a while. It looks like I will brobably order 2 new rims and tires and may try for heavier-duty tires. I have seen some recommend aircraft tires. I dunno.

See? “Tired” is a play on the word tire.

Anyway the other issue really involves being tired as in sleepy and non-responsive. I have been on high blood pressure medicine for quite some time, but I was always tired. My doctor said he could change my prescription to an ACE inhibitor. ACE inhibitors are based upon the chemicals in snake venom…

So if you read the background, the original doses for the first medicine tested were quite high, 400mg to 1000mg a day. Testing confirmed that the dosage was too high and ended up being 50mg to 150mg! Then later on a dosage of 25mg was suggested as being a better starting dose.

Jump forward to a few months ago when I got on the medicine. I was told that we may have to adjust the dosage but my initial dosage odfLisinipril was 20mg. These are small pills by the way.

Almost immedietly I felt very dizy and had to be very deliberate bending over. I checked my blood pressure. Previously it could be 135 to 145 at times. A goal for a good pressure is 120/80. My pressure on this dosage ended up being 86/59. No wonder I was dizzy!

I split the pill in half and the pressure began stabilizing higher but still too low. I am now taking 1/4 tablet which is essentually a little pie-shaped mound of powder because you can’t cut these pills easily. When I get a renewal I may opt for the 10mg pills and split them in half. It is more cost effective that way.
