On the way back to the inspection station my radiator thermostat housing sprung a leak. Parts were ordered and they loaned me a vehicle. Since the vehicle is a loaner, has no 4-wheel drive and has 120,000 miles on it, I opted not to drive it down my driveway and park it up near the street. I use my ATV to drive back and forth from the car to the house. I expect that they will have my truck fixed today.

In the past couple of days I received a few orders, two of which are pretty large. I checked my stock in the coffee locker and found that I am almost out of Kona coffee!

After processing we can store coffee beans as parchment or green. Parchment has a covering which is removed by milling. Green can be roasted as is.

So I loaded all my parchment and all my green in the car and headed to the miller. I had hoped to have the truck by now, but the car will suffice to get the coffee to the miller if I take it slow going up the hill.

I asked the miller if he could mill the coffee today and he said he could do it by 11am. That is fine, but I was hoping he could mill it right then, and I could take all the coffee to the roaster at one time. I did not ask to expedite my order as he was already milling coffee at the time for someone else.

I weighed what green I already had with me and it was sufficient for the outstanding order that has to be shipped in the next couple days. I headed to the roaster who said he has a short staff this week but will try to rush my roasting through. This particular order is too much for me to roast at home and will be shipped to Michigan where a Canadian customer will drive to pick it up. She only will be in Michigan a couple of days so I am doing all I can to get it there well in advance.

After dropping off the coffee at the roaster, I stopped by the supermarket and grabbed some things for breakfast and headed home.

My neighbor is arranging a worker to come help weed-whack on Wednesday. That will help and I can get the coffee trees fertilized and sprayed soon too.

I expect to get a call from the miller within an hour or so and will head up and get that coffee to bring home. I can use that to personally roast small batches but any large orders will be done in town. I am finding that for my coffee beans, the Full City + (darker roast) is a preferred level and it will become my standard I think. Other roasts can be done as special orders. That way I don’t have to store two different roasts at one time.

If they finish with my truck today I have two options. If it is before noon I can drive up to get the registration done other wise it may be easier to wait until Tuesday. I need to go to Costco soon but would prefer to take that trip when I have the truck as I can’t fit the ice chest in the trunk of the car and don’t want to put it in the cars back seat. Costco is very close to the place I register the car.

I just got a call from a real estate agent. A friend wants me to look at a farm he is interested in and he is on the mainland. The agent has his car in the shop and doesn’t want to drive his wife’s convertible up there. I have a loaner with a low clearance. MY car repair place says they don’t think the truck will be done until this afternoon or tomorrow, depending upon when the part comes in.

So the car registration will be renewed perhaps tomorrow, COSTCO will be tomorrow, the milled coffee today but the roasted coffee perhaps Wednesday or so.

I will need to fix the weed-whacker blade today and make sure I have fuel for the guy.

I can just tell that this is looking like a very long week already and it’s only Monday!
