Layering

I have learned that there are two common ways of propogating fruit, grafting and layering (air layering). Grafting seems a bit more complicated than the air layering process.

Although the demonstration here is on lychee, you could do this with other fruits too. I will bet that if you garden and have not tried air layering, watching this video may encourage you to go try it. You almost don’t have to take notes, it is that easy.

This video was produced here in Hawaii a few yards away from where the rest of us were watching a grafting demonstation. hen we came out and saw this process performed.

Air layering involves fooling a tree branch to grow roots. You then cut the branch off below the new roots and turn it upright and you have a new tree.

If that sounds easy enough, the video will be easy to watch.
