Over the years, I have had a fascination with works by a famous composer named Leroy Anderson. I had been looking for a song called “The Syncopated Clock” to use for a musical bed which was written by Anderson. I noticed that he also wrote other instrumentals I have enjoyed over the years.

His most famous tune is well known as “Sleigh Ride” which many people associate with Chruistmas, but was written as just a winter song. Other popular tunes are “The Typewriter” and “Plink Plank Plunk” which was used in the TV show “I’ve Got A Secret”. Also, “Forgotten Dreams” was used on TV shows, one person suggesting he heard it during Captain Kangaroo”. I have to agree that may be where I heard it too. It is a very light tune and quite beautiful.

If you were programming a radio station, his instrumentals are the type of musical beds that you would use to take listeners to the hour for news.

You can go to YouTube and search for Leroy Anderson and play some of the songs.

This Amazon page has a “LISTEN TO IT” link which plays a number of samples. http://www.amazon.com/Leroy-Anderson-Collection-discs/dp/B000009HTO
