Tonight I am watching an old Waltons Mountain episode that featured a flashback with David Huddleston in it. Seeing that made me smile a bit because Waltons Mountain was about a family growing up in the mountains not far from Charlottesville Virginia. It was written by Earl Hamner who grew up in Schuyler Virginia which was in that same area. Not but a short drive away, during this same time as the show was set, there was a military school named Fork Union (established in 1898). David Huddleston was honored at that school recently, being an alumnae who graduated 13 years years before I attended.

David was not the only actor to have gone there, Billy Campbell (the Rocketeer, Dynasty, Star Trek TNG) also graduated.

I’m in pretty good company, although never got to act. My one play appearance (I was in 5th grade) did not go well at all. I had only a few lines, but was really not good at delivering them at the right time. I think it was due to the snickers from my classmates because I was wearing tights. That is enough to throw any guy off his game.
