While I was shopping for and repairing the irrigation pump today, my friends poodle begam giving birth. A poodle had just been delivered when I was leaving and and hour and a half later there was another one delivered.

I was not (so far) involved in this delivery but have certainly done my part during previous litters. Last year a number of the females all came into season in a row and we had 4 litters close to each other. I seem to remember delivering 34 pups or more in a month or two.

I’ll be back there later today (it’s now 5am) to finish the irrigation repairs and try out the pump. I think this will be a large litter based upon how big the mom was.

These are standard sized poodles and not miniature ones which some people breed. These poodles are great water dogs, although lighter than Labradors in weight and will attain the same height as a Lab.

Poodles are not driven by food like Labs and may be a bit more aloof but make great pets.
