Spouting Off

Since my Costco decided to drop the price of diesel fuel dramatically, I decided to but a couple extra containers and fill them up. The price is almost $2 a gallon cheaper than other stations and thus, I can almost get the containers free with the cost of fuel. That is until Costco raises the price. I assume this discount is because of the new pumps and to encourage people to get diesel there.

So looking at all the places in town (Walmart, K-Mart, Lowes, Home Depot, Oreilly Car Parts), most places have no diesel cans. The diesel ones are yellow, gas is red and kerosene is blue. They are the same cans just a different colr and that fact does not explain why the price of the yellow ones is a few dollars more than the red ones.

So the other issue is this. Of the red and yellow ones I found, they all use the new spout. This spout must be some government mandated crap. Also the guy who dsigned it never had to use it. The spout has a spring loaded attachment that forces you to keep it open by pressing it against something. Imagine standing on top of a tractor precariously holding a 5 gallon plastic can while tring to get the diesel into the tank.

It is not just me complaining, look at reviews of recent purchases of gas cans which include people spilling lots of fuel tring to fill a tank.

This is just another case of incompetance!
