Many people are calling for simpler and more fair taxing of people. Think of all the money saved if we found a way to more evenly tax people so we do away with complicated formulas.

There is a joke form that says it is a simple tax form. It asks how much you make and to send that amount to the IRS. While a joke, look at state sales tax. My sales tax is due twice a year and takes all of a few minutes to fill out. How much did you sell, subtract a few items and divide. Send in the result.

Wouldn’t it be nice to do your taxes on a short form? How many of the 106,000 IRS agents could be reassign to other jobs outside the Federal payroll if there was no complicated forms? How many public tax lawyers could find other work?

The problem our legislature has is that nobody will actually hack away at the problem because the politicians use the tax code to help their cronies rather than just send them money for their votes.
