I could spend two or three times that and permanently get the lanai remodeled with real tile, but I have other projects to spend money on firat. I also need to come up with a solution quickly as the puppies are outgrowing the whelping box as I write this.

If I put them outside on the ground, I have to use a kennel (which I have) but protect it from being lifted up or animals getting underneath. There is little flat groundg here and one solution is to embed the bottom pipe of the chainlink kennel in concrete. That makes it more permanent and harder to change location later if need be. The bottom all around would also need chicken wire so that the littest pup “Little Pup” cannot get though. After seeing his bloat up with meat last night, that may not be the problem I tought it would be!

The lanai was my first choice as it already has wire around to keep all but the smallets pup from squeezing through; I just ahve to remove the old wall-to-wall carpeting and put something betetr down. At this point, I may buy a 10×20 tarp and lay that down and staple it down. Then I can spray it with the hose when I need to clean it and that would give me time (and growing room) to make sure the pups have enough room to play.

When they are close to 6 weeks old or so, they will move with Mom up to Sandras so prospective buyers can see Mom and Dad and pups at the same time. Prospective owners like to see the parents to get a better idea what their pup will look like.

OK, I need to get going. Yes, still waiting a bit longer before I start taking puppy photos. At the moment they are all covered with meat/hamburger. I wonder where they got that? :-)
