Whitney Houston visited Kona in 2000 and as I understand it, was not welcome back. I say that not to smear here memory but it was her problems that caused the problem.

Whitney had been visiting the island and was at the Keahole Kona airport to go home. At the security station they noticed a total of 15.2 grams of marijuana – located in two small baggies and in three half-smoked marijuana cigarettes – in her carry on luggage. She left her bags and headed onto the United flight. Authorities called the police but by the time they arrived, the flight had departed.

It is unfortunate taht she had drug problems that she and her husband could not overcome.

Whether drugs were the cause of her death will be determined in the next few days. However, over the years, they certainly didn’t help.
