Wondering What Show I was Watching

Back in 1988 I had a satellite dish; not one of those small ones you have today but a B.U.D. (Big Ugly Dish).

I would watch all sorts of feeds that most of the public never saw. This included raw news footage, hours of live video of an embassy takeover and NASA fees before they became popular. Yes, there was the shopping channels and even odder feeds like the “Uncut Gem Network” and the “Rodeo Network”.

I would often see movies and TV shows before they aired. One example was this TV show that I caught after the opening credits. I did not know the premise or the actors but enjoyed the fresh look at life in the late 60’s. It was touching, had great characters and the music backgrounds made the show.

So I went into work the next morning, asking people if they knew what this show was. Had it been on already and I was just seeing it. No one knew what it was. The reason? This was the pilot, sent down for the network to review (and decide upon commercial placement). IT aired after the Superbowl. I along with some network execs saw it before most everyone.

I don’t want to spoil it by telling you the name, but here is the pilot, the one I came upon after the credits.
