There used to be a TV item called “In The News” and it is a fitting title for todays blog. Hawaii is in the news today.

By now, many people in the U.S. have heard of “IZ” Israel Kamakawiwo’ole whose “Somewhere Over The Rainbow” has touched our hearts. The song has been featured in many movies including “Meet Joe Black”, “Finding Forrester”, an ER episode and the E-Toys commercials years ago.

With such exposure, it seems amazing that in Germany, the song has been number 1 on the singles chart for the past 10 weeks! Iz was just honored with an Hit of the Year Echo award (the equivalent of a Grammy).

Also, the “Soul Surfer” movie launches next week; the story of Bethany Hamilton starring Helen Hunt, Dennis Quaid and Craig T Nelson. Bethany was the Kauai surfer who lost an arm to a shark attack, and has been an inspiration to many people since.
