Years ago I discovered that the computer program Winamp had built in Shoutcast, which allows you to listen to free music streams. If you use Winamp, look for it.

My Roku box also has ways to stream music to your TV or amplifier using a few different services. One has classical music although limited in the number of channels. However it also has TuneIn service which has tons of channels.

I suggested this Roku box for a friend to use at his Legion Post to replace the cable connection they are using for music. The box is cheap and hooks directly to their internet router and will provide continuous music, much like Musak did. There may be some commercials on some channels and some are radio station feeds. The feeds are international and it is just as easy to listen to a station in Poland as it is to listen to one in your own home town.

You do not need a box to listen if you want to have a computer running to do it for you. Browse to TuneIn.Com or ShoutCast.Com and find a station to your liking.

Traveling to Australia for a vacation? You can get a head start listening to a local station out there.

Perhaps you have an interst in the odd, then perhaps listening to police calls in Key West Florida is for you.

Seconds ago a 911 call came in which was a hangup. 911 called back and the woman said it was a mistake. She was just trying to redial the number that had last called her. Since 911 does not call out to people like that, they dispatched a car to check on her welfare. She may have had someone in her house and did not want them to know she was calling 911. It might be interesting to listen for a while to see what the response will be as the police should call back in to dispatch soon with an update.

Most people will listen to the music feed I am sure. Still, there is a whole world out there.
