So you start a software company 25 years ago and over years, you have been sued, found guilty in many countries, changed your operating system seemingly without getting input from the users.

Then your competition builds popular browsers, populer software that does what your does and gives it away for free.

You have people lining up to not buy your new products and have forced you to keep older versions under maintenance. Your latest two versions of operating systems peo[ple prefer not t oinstall.

So how do you address these types of issues?

Why, you change your logo!

It is now a straight font instead of the slanted font of olden days.

Microsoft says that by changing their logo, they signal that they have changed their thinking and that they are catering to users who interact with technology differently now than a quater century ago.

This reminds me of the cartoon panel featuring Charlie Brown and Lucy. Charlie is holding a clipboard and standing on the pitchers mound. He says something like “There, I have written the names of every player on this clipboard. If that isn’t organization, I don’t know what is!”.
