Quiet Time

The days have been pretty quiet, especially when it is pouring outside and that also means that the dogs stay inside. Oh, they COULD go out in the rain, but then I get muddy and wet. Because O`lena has found that her world is larger than just my farm, she tends to chase birds into the neighbors farms and beyond. I have to be careful that she does not wander so my next step is to get some type of fencing installed.

Speaking of wandering, she is nearing her first heat. I have to ensure that she does not get together with a male not of my choosing. Speaking of that, yesterday one of Sandras females was in season and had been bred a couple times in the past few days. I tried to make small talk while these dogs are “breeding” next to me.

I have lost the cable a few times this week, usually for many hours at a time. We have had storms both times. Luckily my new phone has internet and I was able to go to the cable company’swebsite to see if the problem was already reported.

I also have been able to connect my phone (through the internet connection) to my PBX at home, so that I can use a phone application as an extension to my computer phone system at home. This also does not use cell minutes but rather uses my unlimited data plan.

During a quiet time yesterday, I used my phone to access my Kindle version of a few books I have been reading. Other application I have played with include “find my car” and Google Maps. There are many more apps I have played with and I’ll spare you the list.

This time of year, as I watch the news and weather reports from around the country, I am constantly reminded why I wanted to move out here. My teacher friend in Southwest Virginia told me that they have already had something like 8 snow days already! Many people are stuck in airports or their flights have been cancelled or delayed, trying to get where they have to be. I appreciate already being where I have to be. I hope you are too!

Happy Holidays!
