I love VOIP (Voice Over IP) telephone service.

I have a free inbound telephone number in San Francisco. It has voice mail and the ability to play a message without taking a message. When I determine someone is a telemarketer, I set up a call forward and their calls get diverted to that phone number.

The recording is an actual telephone company recording that someone got off the phone and recorded, although nowadays it is possible to create your own using software and snippets of voice recorded by the same announcer.

In any event, the message starts with the automated tones to tell people and computer dialers that the call did not go through. Then the message: “Due to the hurricane in the area you are calling, we are unable to complete your call at this time. Please place you call again later.”

I am so evil :-)
