Decades ago I found a nutrition program with a neat format. You would choose what you ate and the amount and the program kept tack of your intake. For example, there might be a selection for peas and you would choose canned, fresh, etc and how may oz. You might enter 2 cans of soda and a Milky Way.

When you were ready to display results, they were in the form of a nutrition label showing the percentage or recommendation values for a person of your sex and age. Thus you would see Sodium at 200% of RD amount.

The program has a database with many common foods in it and you could add more. Thus if you knew your pot roast has X, Y and Z, you could configure it as a food with the exact amount of salt, protein, etc.

I wish I had thought of that.
